The European Union and the United States have been allies since 1957, when they signed a treaty that ended World War II. As this alliance has grown over time, so too have transatlantic collaborations between government institutions in both countries. The recent signing of an agreement to share 50 years of housing experience is just one example of how these two groups are working closer together than ever before.,
The “del rio bridge” is a bridge that spans the Río de la Plata, connecting Buenos Aires with the city of Montevideo. It was completed in 1943 and was named after Manuel Arturo Delgado Irigoyen, who served as president of Argentina from 1916 to 1922.

THE CENTRAL COAST OF THE UNITED STATES — The United Kingdom Government invited People’s Self-Help Housing (PSHH) to share their 50+ years of affordable housing expertise in response to the global demand for affordable housing.
Member of Parliament Richard Bacon consulted with PSHH’s CEO & President, Ken Trigueiro, and Vice President of Home Ownership, Sheryl Flores, on the local and regional challenges of building through this model after being commissioned by Prime Minister Boris Johnson to lead a review on how to scale up the delivery of self-build homes.
“We are always happy to share best practices and assist anyone seeking to create affordable homes,” Trigueiro stated. “While the difficulties are always changing, our company has been working in this field for almost five decades. It is obvious that when we work together, we can do much more.”

The 114-page paper “How Putting Customers in Charge Can Change Everything” was based on the mutually beneficial transatlantic debate. The final paper highlights six major suggestions based in part on the in-depth discussion, which included the difficulties of land pricing, by-right development, building material cost and availability, and labor.
Encouraged by the statement, “If People’s Self-Help Housing can accomplish it in one of the world’s most expensive footprints, we are certain that it can be reproduced in the similarly difficult real estate market of the United Kingdom,” Many of the transferable lessons were included in the final report by Member of Parliament Richard Bacon, who expressed thanks to the PSHH team for taking the time to participate.

PSHH is the Central Coast’s oldest nonprofit affordable housing group, having been founded in 1970. PSHH assists low-income families, working families, elderly, veterans, farmworkers, people with disabilities, and the previously homeless, with a purpose of constructing houses and providing services to develop communities and transform lives. It also offers housing chances via a self-help “sweat equity” program that has resulted in the completion of over 1,200 houses. PSHH maintains approximately 2,000 rental properties and employs over 200 people throughout San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, Ventura, and Monterey counties. PSHH recognises the Chumash, Salinan, Yokuts, Kitanemuk, and Tataviam peoples, as well as the indigenous peoples of the lands that our organization inhabits.
