The Warriors have been in talks with the Rockets about trading Christian Wood for one of their players. In order to make a deal, they need to know what player is most valuable to them.
The christian wood trade bucks is a trade that the Warriors should offer to the Rockets in order to get Christian Wood.
Golden State has a lot of power in possible deals since they have two first-round choices in this year’s NBA Draft. They’ll be trying to make some major changes to their team this summer. The Warriors’ biggest flaws right now are their lack of size and scoring.
Finding players who can satisfy both requirements is critical if they want to maximize Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green’s championship window. The Warriors are trying to rebuild a contender while adding important components for the future.
A trade for Houston Rockets center Christian Wood is one move that would make a lot of sense. He’s a youthful, athletic combo big who might help the Warriors improve their interior defense while also providing a low-post threat on offense. In the Warriors’ quest to return to the NBA Finals, his well-rounded offensive style, domination on the boards, and outstanding rim protection would have an instant impact. On the other hand, the Rockets may be willing to trade him for the appropriate price.
Prior to an ankle injury that caused him to miss 20 games this season, Wood improved his game all-around and was a contender for Most Improved Player. Now that the Rockets are planning a complete rebuild, they’ll need draft choices, assets, and other young players to compensate for the loss of a player of Wood’s quality.
With that stated, let’s take a closer look at the ideal trade the Warriors should make to the Rockets in order to acquire Christian Wood.
Proposed Trade Agreements
Christian Wood, Eric Gordon, Avery Bradley, and the 23rd selection in the NBA Draft in 2021 go to the Warriors.
James Wiseman, Andrew Wiggins, Mychal Mulder, and the 7th selection in the 2021 NBA Draft go to the Rockets.
With the acquisition of the multi-talented Wood in this proposed deal, the Warriors get much-needed frontcourt depth. His versatility as a power forward or center offers the Warriors a big man who can run the floor while also providing a lob threat to help shore up their frontline.
Wood’s floor spacing would enable Curry and Thompson to score more points while also enabling him to establish a deadly pick-and-roll duo with Green. On the defensive end, Wood would provide Green with a dependable frontcourt partner who could anchor their defensive sets with his excellent interior defense and lateral quickness, which he would use to close out at the three-point line.
Eric Gordon and Avery Bradley, who may give the Warriors with additional scoring and playmaking off the bench, are also expected to join the Bay Area in this deal. With Bradley and Gordon presumably leading the second team, Curry and Thompson will have more time to relax while their offensive burden is reduced. Bradley and Gordon may have good seasons and play significant minutes in the team’s up-tempo, three-point-heavy style.
Bradley is also a tenacious perimeter defender who can play as both a starter and a sixth man, which will help them tremendously when they face great scoring backcourts. They’d also be walking away with the 23rd overall selection in this year’s draft, and considering the Warriors’ track record of player development, it’s fair to believe they’d snag another steal in the first round.
The Rockets, on the other hand, acquire additional youthful skill and agility to add to their youth movement as a result of this trade. In this year’s draft, they also get the seventh overall selection. The signings of James Wiseman, Andrew Wiggins, and Mychal Mulder would provide the club with a trio of youthful players who may be crucial in the rebuilding process.
The Rockets also have the opportunity to choose their future star, who may ultimately lead them back to the NBA Playoffs, with the seventh overall selection. Given all of the players and assets acquired by both clubs in this deal, it seems to be a win-win situation and a no-brainer for two teams in desperate need of making a few tweaks to get back on track.
