In the video game, Dying Light 2, players are tasked with rebuilding a city that has been overrun by zombies. The game’s developer, Techland, is now looking to restore some of the abandoned structures built in the game before its release.

In a new episode of its Dying Light 2 Know MORE series of videos, publisher and developer Techland has revealed more information about Dying Light 2’s abandoned buildings, describing how they fit into the game’s goal of allowing players to “alter the environment around them.”
The abandoned buildings in Dying Light 2 are an important component of the game’s city alignment system, which impacts both gameplay and worldbuilding. They begin as neglected locations with no treasure to be found, but when players repair them throughout the game, they come to life, delivering “real and visible change to the city’s skyline,” according to Lead Game Designer Tymon Smektaa.
You may also attach them to one of the game’s factions, which alters their “appearance and usage” while giving you a greater understanding of the faction’s ideology and way of life.
Vendors offering unusual goods, new quests or treasures to pursue, as well as NPCs you may speak to, leading to “new adventures,” can all be found in restored abandoned buildings. They can also provide you access to training fields where you can test out unusual weapons like the Catapult Bat without risking your hand being bitten off by a swarm of furious zombies.
They’re also linked to “a few dozen” new tasks divided between combat and parkour. The first requires you to “apply your talents in weird and severe circumstances,” while the second includes delivery missions and checkpoint races.
Schools, art studios, bakeries, pumpkin farms, and other abandoned buildings may be found in Dying Light 2 as players try to restore society. The new episode may be seen directly below.
Dying Light 2 is set to release on PC, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch on February 4, 2022.
