Michael Jordan is the most skilled player I’ve ever seen. He has won six NBA championships, five MVP awards, three Olympic gold medals and a record-setting 63rd point in a game. Read more in detail here: what does michael jordan own.

Michael Jordan may have retired from the NBA more than 18 years ago, but he continues to intrigue NBA fans as much as any contemporary player. His persistence, competitive attitude, and athleticism are renowned. Then there’s his sassy demeanor. Even among the game’s most top players, Jordan continues to get accolades. Jerry West is a well-known figure in the is a well-known figure in the, the original Logo and a Hall of Famer, has added his name to the list once again.

In his own right, West was a good player. West is the only losing Finals MVP in NBA history, having been selected to 12 All-NBA teams in 14 seasons. Only seven players have led the NBA in both scoring and assists. Jordan, on the other hand, is on a different level financially.

Jerry West, at 82, is still working as a consultant with the Los Angeles Clippers in the NBA. The LA Lakers great isn’t afraid to express his thoughts on the game, whether he agrees with them or not.

He took over the Laker dynasty as general manager in the 1980s and resigned after constructing the three-peat team in LA from 2000–02. Then, as GM, he made the Memphis Grizzlies relevant for the first time in their history. West also served as a consultant for the Golden State Warriors franchise.

West famously said that LeBron James was the smartest player he had ever seen. West has been a part of the NBA for more than 60 years, having fought the Bill Russell dynasty with Elgin Baylor and Wilt Chamberlain. The NBA will wink and nod and say their logo isn’t inspired by West’s upright ballhandling technique; the design was clearly inspired by West’s upright ballhandling approach.

On the court, he was a generation ahead of Michael Jordan, but as an executive, he battled MJ for years, including once in the NBA Finals. The first gem in Jordan’s six-pointed crown of championships was lost by West’s Lakers to Jordan’s Chicago Bulls in 1991.

That isn’t to argue that West’s views aren’t accurate. But the chances of his being incorrect are very slim.

Michael Jordan’s abilities, according to West, were unrivaled.

Jerry West recently told Terrell Owens and Matthew Hatchette on the Getcha Popcorn Ready with T.O. and Hatch podcast that Michael Jordan was on another level as a player:

“I’ve never seen a player with his level of talent.”

West outlined some of the reasons for this, emphasizing Jordan’s overall brilliance.

West remarked, “This man has done more amazing things than any basketball player I’ve ever seen.” “Some of the things he could accomplish are something that people aren’t aware of. He was the league’s top defensive player as well as the finest offensive player.”

West and Jordan have been friends for a long time, and one of the things the Laker icon loves the most is that Jordan is still the same guy he was when they first met.

“I like Michael Jordan and am friends with him. And he doesn’t change,” West said. “It’s as though he doesn’t want to change.” He’s always the same person.”

West remembers one particular event during Jordan’s career that sticks out to him.

A Michael Jordan dunk against the Knicks wowed Jerry West.

Jerry West gushed about Michael Jordan’s athleticism during his visit on the show. But West claimed there was one play in particular that he’ll never forget:

“Some men leap fast, while others must wind up. Michael Jordan was a cat, to be sure. I’m really interested in one play in particular. They were up against the Knicks of New York:

“He grabbed the ball on the baseline and began this way before turning around and dunking it in such a little space. He was just leaping this way in this region; some people require a little more space, right? He threw the ball over his head.”

It’s no wonder that West admires Jordan’s two-way brilliance. West scored 27.0 points per game throughout his 14-year NBA career and was selected to the All-Defensive team five times. If it doesn’t sound remarkable, keep in mind that the NBA didn’t start designating All-Defensive teams until 1968–69. West’s five trophies came in the last six seasons of his career.

West averaged 2.6 steals per game in the one season they were an official statistic during his career. A back ailment restricted West to 31 games and a career-low 31.2 minutes per game in 1973–74, his last season.

Throughout his Hall of Fame career, Jerry West shown a wide range of abilities. Michael Jordan, on the other hand, is the greatest talented player in NBA history. From a guy who’s seen it all, this is a high recommendation.

Basketball Reference provided the statistics.
